About the Opportunity
Arctic Digital Solutions Ltd. is seeking a Full Stack Django Developer to join its growing technology team in Inuvik, Northwest Territories.
The successful candidate will design, develop, test, and maintain secure web applications used by northern businesses, community organizations, and public-sector partners. This position is ideal for a developer who enjoys solving practical problems, working collaboratively with clients, and building reliable systems that create a positive impact in northern communities.
The developer will work across the complete application stack, including Django applications, PostgreSQL databases, REST APIs, responsive user interfaces, AWS infrastructure, and third-party service integrations.
This is a hybrid position. The successful candidate will work from the company’s Inuvik office for part of the week and may work remotely during the remaining days, subject to operational requirements. Applicants currently living outside Inuvik are welcome to apply. Relocation and travel assistance may be available.

Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain web applications using Python and Django.
• Create responsive and accessible user interfaces using HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, and related frontend technologies.
• Design Django models, forms, views, templates, administrative interfaces, and background processes.
• Build and maintain secure REST APIs and third-party integrations.
• Design efficient PostgreSQL database structures and optimize application queries.
• Integrate cloud services such as Amazon EC2, RDS, S3, SES, CloudFront, Route 53, and IAM.
• Implement secure authentication, authorization, role-based access control, and privacy protections.
• Integrate payment, email, document-storage, and notification services when required.
• Write clean, documented, reusable, and testable source code.
• Review existing applications, identify defects, and implement reliable fixes.
• Create automated tests and perform functional, security, browser, and responsive-layout testing.
• Participate in requirements gathering, technical planning, estimation, and solution design.
• Translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Collaborate with designers, project managers, clients, and other developers.
• Maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, and application support guides.
• Monitor production applications and assist with troubleshooting, maintenance, backup, and recovery activities.
• Protect confidential client, employer, and candidate information in accordance with organizational privacy requirements.
Requirements
• At least three years of professional web development experience.
• Strong experience with Python and the Django web framework.
• Practical knowledge of Django ORM, forms, class-based views, templates, authentication, permissions, and Django Admin.
• Experience working with PostgreSQL or another relational database system.
• Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, and JavaScript.
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
• Familiarity with Git-based source control and collaborative development workflows.
• Experience deploying or maintaining applications in a Linux environment.
• Understanding of web application security, including CSRF protection, cross-site scripting prevention, secure file handling, and access control.
• Ability to diagnose technical problems and communicate solutions clearly.
• Ability to manage priorities and deliver dependable work with limited supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in Canada.
Experience with AWS, Docker, Stripe, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, accessibility standards, or northern community projects will be considered an asset.
Education and Training
A diploma or degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline is preferred.
A comparable combination of professional development experience, technical training, certifications, and demonstrated project work will also be considered.
